Psychiatry

Psychiatry

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO Definition of Health)

In our clinical experience we observe that many of the physical conditions of our patients are related to a mental disorder that we manage to identify, but to diagnose and treat it effectively and individually we must rely on the experience of the psychiatrist specialist and thus, acting in a coordinated manner. , we will quickly obtain benefits for patients that will improve their health.

At Global Medical Care we launch the Psychiatry service for outpatient care from the mildest or transitory disorders to those of greater intensity and severity, such as, for example:

  • Anxiety and depressive disorder in any of its variants.
  • Disorders related to gender and cross-cultural violence.
  • Sexual identity disorders and sexual dysfunctions.
  • Addictions: alcoholism, smoking, gambling, digital or technological addiction, etc.
  • Eating disorders.
  • Chronic fatigue.
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD).
  • Borderline personality disorder.
  • Mental impairment caused by pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Dual psychiatric pathology (addiction + disorder)

Some figures and data about mental health

In 2019, it was estimated that one in eight people in the world suffered from a mental disorder, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic these numbers increased.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that one in four people will have a mental disorder during their lifetime.

There are many different types of mental disorders, but the most common are anxiety and depression.

In Spain, 6.7% of the population suffers from anxiety and the same percentage from depression, and only half of them receive adequate treatment.

16% of young people between 15 and 19 years old report having suffered from anxiety or depression problems and this continues to increase.

Effective prevention and treatment options exist, yet most people lack access to effective care.
